Storko Product Health Scanner — Privacy Policy
This page covers the Storko Product Health Scanner Shopify app only (formerly Storko Image Size Checker). It's separate from Storko's own site privacy policy.

Who we are
Storko Product Health Scanner is a Shopify app operated by Storko. Contact: hello@storko.co.za.
What the app does
It reads a merchant's store products — images, and catalog data such as barcodes, prices, publishing status, stock status, SKUs, SEO descriptions, product type and category — and reports which have issues that could stop them selling or showing up in Google Shopping. It also watches for products being created, edited or deleted, so results stay current between manual scans. It does not change the merchant's products.
What we collect and store
- The store's domain and the access token Shopify gives the app when it's installed (encrypted before it's stored — see Security below).
- For images or products with an issue: product ID, product title, vendor name, and the specific details of the issue (for example image URL/width/height for an image problem, or which check failed and why for a catalog-data problem). Products and images with no issues are not stored.
- Scan summaries (counts, dates) for the most recent scan.
- Basic technical logs and error reports (for example error messages and request timing) used to keep the app working.
What we do not collect
The app does not request or store customer or order data, payment information, or staff personal data. It also has no presence on a merchant's storefront — no cookies, scripts, or tracking of any kind are added to their online store, so it collects nothing at all from their customers or site visitors.
Why we collect it
To show merchants their results, let them export them, keep results current automatically, and operate and support the app — never for advertising, reselling, or training other products.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that host and run the app, acting on our behalf: Google Cloud (application hosting, Cloud Run), Neon (database hosting, Postgres), and Sentry (error tracking — captures technical error details like stack traces, error messages and server diagnostics when something goes wrong, so we can fix it). Sentry is configured with sendDefaultPii: false, its setting that keeps it from collecting IP addresses, cookies, or the content of requests and responses. We do not sell this data.
Where we're based and where data is processed
Storko is based in South Africa, not the European Union or European Economic Area. Data is stored and processed in the United States, by our hosting providers (Google Cloud and Neon) — not in Europe.
Retention and deletion
We keep a store's data while the app is installed. When a merchant uninstalls the app, we delete everything stored for that store immediately. Shopify also sends a separate shop-data-erasure request 48 hours after uninstall as a backstop, which we handle the same way. A merchant can also ask us to delete their data at any time by emailing hello@storko.co.za.
Your rights
Depending on where a merchant is based, they may have rights to access, correct or delete their data; contact us at hello@storko.co.za.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored with our hosting providers. Access tokens are encrypted before being stored (AES-256-GCM), with the encryption key held separately from the database, in Google Cloud Secret Manager — not in the database itself and not in our source code.
Changes
We will update this page when the policy changes and change the date above.
